StatFi is a statistical package bringing complex statistical and analytical calculations into Microsoft Excel.

Pros: StatFi works as a plug-in to the MS Excel and adds a range of statistical analysis functions to the same. Repeatable results and reliable statistics are provided by this plug-in.

With the basic Excel a very limited set statistical functions are available to the users. This application makes it possible to add sophisticated statistical functions. These include normality tests, Pagurova Criterion, correlation coefficients, ANOVA and GLM ANOVA. StatFi supports regression analysis, parametric and non-parametric statistical analysis. The complex mathematical methods such as contingency tables analysis, rank correlations, Probit and Latin squares, Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA and Cochran Q test are supported. Following ISO2602:1980, ISO 2854:1976, and ISO 3207:1975 standards ensures repeatable results for the statistical analysis performed in the package.

Being integrated with the Excel, using the functions is as easy as working with everything else in Excel. Learning involved is not at all tough, if you know what you need to do with statistics. The software does not impose any learning curve to that.

Cons: Whether or not the statistical answers you get are right and are unbiased is difficult to asses. It is only possible with long term usage by a community of users and feedback from them. Basic confidence, of course, comes from the fact that the package follows the ISO specified standards.

Overall, quite a useful extension to the workhorse program MS Excel. Assuming results produced are unbiased and consistent, this is a good package. This rates a 4 star level.
